Mr. Jared Thrasher, PrincipalI am grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside our incredible staff as Principal after 14 years in the field of Education. My journey began in the classroom, where I spent 9 years teaching United States History and the Constitution, Advanced Placement Human Geography, and World History—each day learning alongside my students before transitioning into school administration. I also spent those years coaching football, baseball, basketball, tennis, and track. My education at Clemson University, where I earned a degree in Secondary Education with a minor in Athletic Leadership, helped shape my understanding that true learning happens when students feel supported and valued. During my years spent coaching, I discovered that encouragement and believing in each person's potential creates the strongest foundation for growth. I then earned my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University which expanded my vision of what is possible when we create school environments where authentic relationships and academic excellence go hand in hand, guiding each student toward meaningful growth. At home, my wife Rebekah and I cherish watching our three children—Davis (11), Boone (5), and Sawyer Kate (2)—learn and develop their unique personalities. Parenting has deepened my commitment to creating a school where every child feels seen, heard, and appreciated for exactly who they are. During any free time, I also enjoy watching the Clemson Tigers play any sport and traveling with my family. I believe that a nurturing school environment is one where students feel safe to take risks, ask questions, and express themselves. My door is always open to students, parents, and staff as we work together to create a caring community where everyone belongs. I look forward to supporting each student's journey and celebrating all the wonderful ways they'll grow during their time with us at Barnwell Primary School. |

Mrs. Kara Bolen, Assistant PrincipalBarnwell Primary School is a welcoming and nurturing learning environment, and I am delighted to be a part of the BPS family. I have worked in education for 25 years, with 21 of those wonderful years spent right here in Barnwell County School District- one year at Williston-Elko Middle School, 19 years at Barnwell Elementary School, and presently in my first year as an Assistant Principal at Barnwell Primary School. I am honored to continue serving the families in our community. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of teaching all subjects in both 4th and 5th grades, as well as serving as a Literacy Coach before stepping into administration. My journey in education has been deeply rewarding, and I am passionate about continuing to make a positive impact on our students' lives. As a classroom teacher, my motto was “once you’re in my classroom, you’re always in my heart”; I continue to apply this motto to our students at BPS. As a proud graduate of Barnwell High School, my educational journey continued with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Winthrop University, a Master's in Divergent Learning from Columbia College, and a Master's in Educational Leadership from American College of Education. When I'm not at school, I cherish time with my husband, our two daughters, and our sweet dog, as well as my extended family and friends. I also enjoy traveling and reading whenever I have the opportunity. My purpose as Assistant Principal is twofold: to provide meaningful support to our dedicated teachers as they educate your children, and to motivate and encourage our students to work hard in pursuit of their dreams. I firmly believe that with determination and the right guidance, our students can achieve anything they set their minds to. I look forward to partnering with you throughout the school year. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or if I can be of assistance in any way. I may be reached at 803.450.1237 or kbolen@bcsd.net. |
